Investigation of Co3O4 and LaCoO3 Interaction by Performing N2O Decomposition Tests under Co3O4-CoO Transition Temperature

The research presented in this paper addresses the question: How does addition of a small amount LaCoO3 impact activity Co3O4 catalyst? By testing such catalyst N2O decomposition under conditions at which thermal to CoO is possible, one gains unique insight into how two phases interact. increases entire studied temperature range, unlike undoped cobalt lower 850 °C than 800 due reduction CoO. XRD measurements showed that was also main oxide present Co3.5La after operating °C, as did XPS measurements, but there no drop associated with change. influence NO, O2 and H2O on new catalyst, Co3.5La, determined. Lack positive effect known oxygen scavenger, noticed all temperatures, showing probably increased desorption. Temperature programed oxidation (TPO) tests beneficial effects presence were caused by enhanced diffusion O2− anions through facilitates desorption molecules from surface.
